National Day Parade

My country’s National Day Parade (NDP) is just over with lots of celebrations. Take a quick look at wikipedia for more info about NDP. It is a yearly celebration in Singapore, where we get to see lots of fireworks, army marching, various dances and celebrating the harmony of the different races in Singapore. I am writing this because I saw 3 clicks about “Write More” in the NDP article, and I thought it would be good to write something about Singapore.

The achievement of Singapore is not easy to come by. Just imagine this country at its very beginning stage 42 years ago, where we don’t have the advantages of any natural resource to build more income sources, and everybody is working really hard to get Singapore to become where it is today.

I am so used to the lifestyle of Singapore being a well-protected citizen, I never knew how strict Singapore can be when I was on my way back from overseas, when the plane was announcing some restrictions here and there before we landed on the ground… And I actually don’t hear those things when we are going to another country… While I am here, I never realize how protected we are in Singapore… I only start to see the strictness when I am in a plane full of different countries coming to Singapore… In fact, I am quite used to the strictness here already…

National Day Parade is a very important ceremony in Singapore… Every year before 9th August, we would usually start to do some preparation already… So some planning of the next year’s celebrations will start to commence while 2007’s NDP is just over! You can see how important it is… I feel that having such a ceremony every year is an important recall for everybody of how we got our independence… It is really never easy to have gone through till this day.

Just like anything in life, we will always have people who like to stay in Singapore and people who don’t like too. Well, it’s just a matter of choice only… Singapore is quite strict for sure… But because of its strictness, you will see the country is progressing. But of course because of strictness, creativity is sometimes been ruined as well… Nevertheless, Singapore is making efforts to make the amendments and has been encouraging entrepreneurship in Singapore so much so that it is so simple to start a business today! Just a click away and you are started!

Today’s national day is a little different where we are celebrating near the sea at Marina Bay. We no longer used the National Stadium (It’s like a soccer field which is so boring.. :) )

Anyway, have a look at these photos…

Well, I think that our fireworks are not as spectacular as the ones in the overseas… Probably due to safety restrictions… Oh well, you know what I mean… :)
