Welcome to Charles Lau dot Com – a personal blog of an Internet reviewer who writes about his life in both online and offline world.
My name is Charles Lau, and I have been an Internet reviewer since June 2007. I started off by reviewing blogs, and soon I got myself into reviewing sales pages, as well as websites that sell products and services. It has been a great experience, and I am probably the first reviewer who started the video reviews (using YouTube). It attracted the attention of some of the greatest bloggers out there and I am pleased to write guest reviews for all of them.
Also, I am one of those guys who decides to drop the idea of going to university to complete my tertiary education at the very last minute when all the paperwork has already been done. Since December 2003, I have been either running my own businesses or helping to do sales for other companies.
My Background
I have been spending all my life in Singapore. I acquired two diplomas in my life. They are Diploma in IT (in 2001) and Diploma in Enterprise Development (in 2005). When I was doing my national service, I have been exposed to many entrepreneurial friends. They have inspired me about the difference of working as an executive of your career. It’s where you started to take control of your life and to make a difference in this part of the world.
Soon when I finished my national service in 2003, I dropped the idea of going to university which has been planned and paid deposit for in about 2 years ago (in 2001). It was a difficult decision back then because I was all alone to start my path in the working world while almost all of my friends are going for their further studies.
I worked in a couple of sales jobs, started a couple of both successful and failed businesses, and finally settled down as an Internet reviewer in June 2007. My last business is still pretty successful today (in 2009) when I resigned my directorship in May 2007.
My History with Internet
I have been playing with Internet since 1997. This is also when I got my first computer too. I bought my first domain name in 1998 when I think something big is going to happen in the Internet world. I was so addicted to my computer as I have always been looking for patches and updates to my computer and games in different websites So I decided to study IT when I saw there is a deficit of IT experts.
I studied two majors in my IT Diploma. They were software engineering and network computing. Those were the days when I was very technically inclined till 2001.
Since 2001, I have been meddling with websites whenever I am free. I used to design my websites when CSS and Div were not a common thing. Today, I hire experts to help me because I just cannot design any better than them.
Since 2003, I started a couple of websites for my various businesses. They got me some business exposure on the Internet in Singapore. It is only in 2007 when I started to talk about websites and became an Internet reviewer.
Today
I am happily married with Simin as my wife in 2009. While I am enjoying myself blogging about other people’s websites as an Internet reviewer, I am also holding a full time e-marketing executive job with an MNC regionally.
What this blog is going to talk about?
Well, I am going to talk about my life outside, my internet reviews, my business thoughts and what I have learnt along the way.
This site serves as a discussion ground for me and other online marketing enthusiasts to keep up with what I am going to learn about Internet Marketing. Why am I doing this?
- It is important to teach while learning those materials and trying it out myself because when you write a blog about it, you are simply refreshing what you have learned from all the various sources of education I am getting from.
- It gives an insight of my research endeavors, and to hear from the readers whether these points are valid. Having to tell the world of my findings, I am also learning from the world of my findings too.
