How Many Blogs Should I Have?

by Charles on 10 December 2007

Having multiple blogs might be a good idea… It does create multiple exposure about your businesses and thus a potential to make more money than another person focusing on just one blog. However, the idea of working on more than one blog can actually tire anybody especially for those who have difficulty thinking of new articles to produce.

The time taken to produce an article
How much time do you need to create an article? It depends on the quality of the post you are producing. In my opinion, a good quality post takes about 20 minutes to an hour to produce. It goes through some thoughts in your head and to work out a post which is beneficial to your readers.

Producing One Blog At A Time
I can’t imagine working on more than one blog. I have tried doing it myself and found myself tiring to think of new articles to work on different blogs. It is more difficult to produce contents of different topics in different blogs than to post about the same topic on the same blog. It is really not easy… It goes through a lot of planning to make a successful blog and impromptu changes to fine-tune the blog to the next level.

It is not easy to maintain more than 1 blog!
For those of you who are working on more than 1 blogs, you will notice that it is not easy to maintain a daily posting on all your blogs. I have experienced it myself, and I couldn’t maintain all of them while I was working full time previously. Now with a sales job at hand, working on more than 1 blog is even tougher. How about spending time with my girlfriend and friends?

Blog is very different from other websites. Blog is very much like a self-employed person trying to manage the blog on a daily basis. However, if you manage to leverage out to external bloggers, you will start to see a better time management for all your blogs.

So, the number of blogs you should have is the very first one that is successful! The rest are just complimenting your blog…

  • Experience is the most important thing in planning, as far as I'm concerned. When you know what you can accomplish with a blog, then it's easier to setup a system. All you have to do after that is decide who will do the work.
  • Yup Chuck Norris Dude... That's so true... I'm going to start another website soon. :)
The initial stage of learning curve is so deep... But after you get through, it's so much smoother because you know you can make it through... It's just a matter of time

very interesting, but I don't agree with you
    Idetrorce
  • Which part you don't agree? Maybe can reply here or email me to let me hear about it. :)
  • You can maintain 10 blogs for quite a time, but if you want them to be big, you have to outsource the work. That's it.
  • Hi Chuck Norris Dude..
That sounds true... Having a system to maintain what you wanted to do is so important... You can outsource them to someone else... Or you can even hire them to work for you together...
  • IMO if you are only using blog to make money 3 new blog at a time could be the number you should focus on. one main blog and two supplementary blog. when the 2 supplementary blog has already good traffic then you can get create 2 new blog until you have reached to the point you are already owning a number of high traffic blog that you can handle at one time. IMO blog is a real estate. you can sell it when it has high value. so why not create some blogs if you think you can handle it.
  • I maintain 10 blogs, and believe me...it's not easy.
  • That is going to make you crazy! Let me know if you could maintain them for at least 6 months...
  • wow you must be kidding me dude?
    how could you do that?

ps: charles, please check your email, i have sent you an order. please reply soon.
    thanks
  • Thank you Jack... I've replied. :)
  • I'm confused. One of your older posts said to have multiple sites in one niche. Now you're saying just do one? I'm a wee bit confused...
  • Hi "Watch Funny Videos"...
It's not easy to maintain more than one blog... However, you can determine youur main blog, and use your other blogs to compliment your main blog. Other blogs are more like a support in one way or another... They could be a sub-category of your main blog which could target a more niched market...
