No man is an island in becoming successful in our lives. We need to work as a team in order to leverage on each other’s time to grow faster into the success path.
To build a team, it comes with a lot of patience as each and every one of us grows along with the leader’s direction. Everybody plays a part in becoming a better team player everyday.
To be a good leader, you have to set a direction where clarity comes first. Nothing beats more than having a confusing leader who is focusing on the small things when there are more important things to do.
To be a good follower, you have to go along the same direction where you are able to “do the right things”, and not “doing things right”. The big difference is that you are not following things blindly…
I’ve been in both leader and follower for many years. I’ve led a sales team of 12 people, focusing on bringing in sales to the company. I’ve also been a follower when i’m trying to understand my leader in order for me to grow.
I’ve come to understand that a good leader is able to bring out the potentials of the team members. And when there’s problem faced, the leader will then be able to stand up to defend his team and to take the blame.
And to be fair, we may sometimes need to go into the wrong track with the team if somebody is very confident that he is on the right track… That’s because sometimes, we may be wrong that this particular track may be the right one actually! If otherwise, that person will be able to learn from his mistakes so that we can move on quickly to the next stage!
When we found that the leader has an ego to take care of, it means that we may find a lot of problem trying to take care of his or her feelings even before we focus on the right thing! This is sometimes very irritating!
