Is SPAMMING The Right Way To Do Internet Marketing?

by Charles on 17 November 2007

Since the days without Internet, we have all been spammed by brochures from everywhere. It can come in the form of posting to your house, handing to you in person, slotting it on your car’s windscreen, knocking on your door talking to you with a brochure, and many other ways which can be really “creative”. Internet has now changed many of our lives. Internet has made information so much more accessible, and hence the businesses are now tapping onto this market for more business juice!

After setting up your website ready to serve prospects for their needs and wants, your very next step is to think of a solution to make the website busy. Many websites out there are very lonely… Idling there, wasting time and money waiting for just 1 to 2 prospects a day and yet the conversion rate is only 5%.

Many of these websites decided to do some spamming to go direct to the prospective customers.

  1. Some of them bought database from other relevant companies to email them with information which may or may not be interested in them.
  2. Some engaged blog spam software which floods our blogs with spammed comments in the hope of attracting someone to click.
  3. Some did their homework by surfing around the internet for email addresses to spam at.
  4. Some did even more illegal ways of cloaking to bring in traffic which is considered a search engine spam.
  5. Some did forum spamming to get themselves more visible to the prospects, and they kept on re-registering new accounts themselves after being banned.

Whichever way they have done, these ways are really very annoying to the receivers if they did not do it properly.

Is it really worthwhile doing so?
While many companies might have thought that spam is a proven thing since everybody keeps on spamming, it may just end up with commotion or unhappiness. Spam might actually work for certain industries because of their business nature, but one size doesn’t fit all! I really hate to receive spams which talk about sex toys and such… But such spams seem unavoidable to all of us online! I must say that they might work in a few percentage since their work is minimal and yet their marketing scale is huge! Hence, they don’t look at the rate of converting prospects since the number should work for their business anyway!

Doing it properly?
In fact, I don’t think there is such thing as doing your spam properly or not. But if the spammers could send something really relevant to your prospects, it is much more appreciated. The best way to do internet marketing which provides the friendliest way of “spamming” is to buy advertisement spaces from other websites with high traffic. Actually, advertisements are the best way of informing more relevant prospects about your products and services.

Search engine optimization will be the best way to do Internet Marketing too! Although it seems like a never-ending thing where everybody keeps on mentioning not to focus on that, we still have to do our part to make our site search-engine-friendly.

Unsubscribing from SPAMS?
And by the way, please don’t ever try to “unsubscribe”! That’s because spams are usually sent in bulks. And by unsubscribing, you are actually identifying yourself to the spammers for your existence! If you really have the time to do it, simply forward that email to spam@uce.gov and they will do the rest! For more information about reporting the spams, check out this site to file for spams.

Conclusion!
Will the spammers, please stop spamming all of us? We hate spams as much as you do for your own inbox!
