Should I also de-friend most of you on Facebook? [It's not you or me... It's Darren]

I heard that Problogger is de-friending people on Facebook.  I was reading through that post, and found it very true… It’s not you or me… It’s Darren Rowse…

While all of us are creating a personal branding of our own through the Internet, we may actually mix up our friends and family whom we are keeping one another in touch with.  My friends wouldn’t be interested in the topics that I am talking about… My friends should only be interested in my personal life… Whereas most of you are my online community and are interested in the topics that we share with one another…

But the truth is that we have been trying to add one another as friends even though we may not know each other… And the whole idea is that we are trying to build a community… But again, the truth is that I am actually updating my personal information in my Facebook… Isn’t that ironic?

I don’t have that “luxury” of having 5000 friends like Darren… However,  I may want to look into my list of friends and de-friend those whom I really don’t know of… I do got to know some of you through online communication… And the communication is mutual for sure!

For all the marketers out there, what do you think?  Do you actually be-friend whoever you can?  Why do you make so many friends?  Does making friends really help in building traffic to your website?  Don’t you think you should have a personal account just for your friends and family?
