So sorry that my blog has been down for 3 days! I really don’t like my blog to be deactivated without my permission…
On 27 Jan 2009, I received an email from BlueHost that my site has been deactivated.
This was the actual email:
Dear Charles:
Your web hosting account for rawspoon.com has been deactivated (reason: site causing performance problems).
Although your web site has been disabled, your data may still be available for
up to 15 days, after which it will be deleted. If you feel this deactivation is in error, please contact customer support as
soon as possible.
I used rawspoon.com as my domain for controlling my shared hosting account. Hence, some of you might have seen a screen saying that this domain name has been disabled.
I pursued further, and found out that my site is causing their MySQL server to be unstable. As I did not know what’s going on with my blog that caused such a performance issue, I can only remember that I did a WordPress upgrade in my other blog to version 2.7 on 26 Jan 2009. Probably that has caused some MySQL issue over there.
But as I asked the BlueHost support a few more times, they are recommending me to use create new MySQL users for different database. As for my convenient sake, I have created one user to access most of the databases. Yes it may be a security issue, it is also causing their database server to be unstable. They have also asked me to optimize the database using PHPMyAdmin.
As I looked through the procedures, I see that the contents on my blog is more important than any other issues. I asked BlueHost to help me find a solution to get the this blog live first. (As for now, you will see a default theme because I am in the midst of taking this advantage of changing to a new theme.) They asked me to solve the whole issue first.
Yes, I can understand their problem. But because I really need to get this blog to be live, I decided to move my hosting to Media Temple. It’s an instant migration as I merely do an export and import of the relevant information. I have also done a backup of my files from BlueHost.
Yes, BlueHost is still very professional in their hosting service as they are protecting their server for maximum uptime. It’s really for my website issue and due to my own lack of time that I would move on. I still love BlueHost for sure.
Please take note that my email with charleslau.com is still down. Please contact me via the Contact Me form. Thanks.
