Use A Website To Tell A Story About Yourself

by Charles on 4 May 2009

I have personally reviewed many websites since June 2007. I have seen many website business startups as they sent their websites for review. They are all looking for ways and means to make themselves known to the world.  Obviously, that’s because they have a business to do.  And that’s why they have to market themselves to the world, hoping to make money out of their website business.

The Internet has become an interesting platform for many companies to look for talents.  Big companies are on the lookout for talents who can help them in their business in one way or another. And they would usually pay them as a vendor, or they would pay them to work for them. Whichever way that the companies are looking for, you need a website to tell a story about yourself.

Actually, it doesn’t have to be a company looking for you.  it may be someone out there looking for help in which you are an expert in.  You may not actually be expecting anything out of this story actually.  All you want is to tell a story from your website.

Personal Branding

Unknowingly, this website will become your personal brand to the world.  Once you have planted this little seed, you are actually opening yourself to the world of opportunity.  Jobs will come hunting for you.  Business will come to look for you.  Google will make sure you get your credits for displaying your skills.  The keywords related to your skills will soon be shown up in the search results.  Recruitment agencies will want you to go for a potential job that they have found.

And this personal brand will stay with you forever!  Even if your website is gone, you will be remembered in the web archives.  You just have to make sure you are building your online branding as you work for someone, or on your own business.  It will multiply by itself!  (Check out my good friend’s blog about Personal Branding!)

Social media will love you

Facebook will love to know that you have a website that they can link to.  They will want to let your friends know about your website of your personal brand.  Your fans will digg you, delicious you, stumbleupon you.  Twitter fans will want to RT you.  Your LinkedIn profile will look even more terrific!  Bloggers will trackback your permalinks.

Well, it’s never too late to start a website of yourself.  Simply start a blog, and get yourself started writing about yourself.  Isn’t this world so wonderful with Internet? :)
