Web has finally awakened within

The world seems to be talking about Internet related topics everyday. No longer were the days where people treated internet like a child play. I saw its potential since 1997 and jumped right in to get myself equipped with the skills that I need.

From days of denial where nobody really cares that I have websites (because websites used to belong to geeks), to the present where it may even be more important than traditional media such as TV and newspaper.

It is no doubt hard for many people to catch up and comprehend about the new media that we have today. It is actually even harder if they had never been so intimate with the social media because it breaks their very thought that they don’t want to get too personal with the media that everybody listens to. (Even for this blog post that I have written.)

Suddenly, everybody in this world gets to enjoy the same coverage that only the rich will be able to afford to enjoy some air time to be heard back in just 10 years ago.

The internet has open up the opportunity that everyone of us can show our own personal branding easily and probably even without any cost involved. It is instant… simply fill up your social media profile properly and you are ready for the next stage.

Small companies tend to jump into the social media wagon much faster because they are lean and can get themselves started easily. They made a lot of trials and errors along the way so as to get the optimized permission marketing. They have enjoyed a lot of exposure through this media while creating a long tail marketing for themselves which can sustain their business even when they are not making money in their main stream business.

The internet is pretty much fair to everybody. The sooner you get into social media, the more beneficial it can be for your business (whether it is big or small company). It is simply because it allows you to learn as much as you can while you are still building community. It’s also because everyone of us are becoming more and more expert in it, hence it’s advisable to get in while you can so as to absorb the experience as everybody is still learning to communicate to and fro.

We’ll see how things go in the months to go.. it’s gonna be really exciting!
