I’ve recently come across some blogs which personalize one of their posts as the landing pages for the various social media (such as Twitter, FaceBook, Forums, Blogs and SocialBookmarking sites) that they are in. It is interesting to note that this is more welcoming to the visitors as it is optimized for them to be more comfortable with you before they start to browse further.
Like my blog, many blogs seem to adopt the appearance of showing their blogs on the main landing page with chronological order of posts. It is definitely more optimized for the search engines as they know as and when that this page might be an important one given that it is on the front page. But again, with the revolution of blogs, search engine algorithms may change again for sure. Nobody will ever know the trade secrets of Google algorithm, except for the Google team themselves.
Not that it is not good to show your blog on the front, but it is actually better to introduce yourself first before you start telling them the contents. Just like what Matt Cutts did in his blog. Matt Cutts works for the Search Quality Group in Google, so you can be sure that you are on the right track even if you don’t follow most blogs (like myself) to have our blogs on the front page.
