Buying A New Domain Name To Represent An Affiliate Link!
Jul 6th, 2008 by Charles
Mike Filsaime was showing us a domain name http://quickyprofits.com/ which Jeff Mulligan is working on to teach us something in his free video. However, I realize that Jeff Mulligan is using http://quickieprofits.com/ as his official website.
And it turned out that the website becomes http://quickieprofits.com/video.cfm?affID=viral where we see an affiliate id as “viral”.
It looks like quicky and quickie are pretty close in the words. Mike Filsaime should be teaching us something again about the idea about affiliated domain name. It should be the highest form of affiliate link so far when we are only seeing affiliate links such as the following:
www.domain.com/affiliate-link
www.domain.com/recommends/affiliate-link/
www.domain.com/refer.php?id=affiliate
www.affiliatedwebsite.com/?affid=link
Is there anymore other different type of affiliate links other than this?
I went ahead and find out who owns this quickyprofits.com. And as expected, this is what it shows.
Later, I was also curious about the ownership of quickieprofits.com. Ok, it is owned by Jeff Mulligan.
Mike Filsaime has gone to the extend of buying a domain name just to represent the affiliate link. (Or probably it is just a forward link?) This is what we called a serious businessman, working online.
Let’s just think about it. A domain name is costing less than $15 for one year of affiliation. It is not a very expensive investment after all.
Let’s just consider buying more similar domain names for our affiliation… Just be careful of mis-representation!
I have done this to market affiliate links before, but when with generic keyword domains. I never thought of getting domains that sound like the real website.
I always use http://www.mydomain.com/goto/affiliatewebsite
I never thought about using a domain close to affiliate domain.
Hi KushMoney. That is the normal way of using an affiliate link. Past few months, a lot of people like to use “recommend” instead of “goto”.
But I believe both represent the affiliate link differently.
Yeah, I have seen both around as well. I haven’t thought about it really.
