Google seems to have answered my question by his action. I was asking when the page rank is going to be known and here it is. I am very excited to find out about my first page rank being revealed. It is my first time I have a page rank which is three! The highest I had before I got my own ex-company’s website to page rank of one. I wish to thank all the bloggers who emailed me to congratulate me… :)

Page Rank Spillover
I was curious to find out some of my friends’ page rank since there seem to have a huge change everywhere. I found out that the blog - which my friend Sunny recently sold his blog to Vinay - has spilled some page rank juice.

His original url http://www.desinotes.com has a page rank of 4.

But he has a “duplicated” content at http://www.desinotes.com/index.php which has a page rank of 2…

To care about Page Rank or not?
Recently because of Google downgrading some of the famous blogs’ page ranks, these bloggers seem to have some prejudices towards Google for doing such a thing to them. While I don’t know what they did exactly to have that page rank downgrade, they seem to be telling the world that page rank doesn’t really matter so long as you are making money consistently. On the surface, they seem to be right… But come to think about it again… They seem to be trying to appeal to their many readers to make sure their readers align with what they are trying to say. I can still remember many of these blogs which display their high page rank number proudly in the past…

Ultimately whatever it is, a page rank is still a good start to give an impression to the readers about how this website is faring by the trusty Google.

A friend told me that page rank is not really as important so long as you are making good money still. I think there’s more than just saying that. A good page rank is possibly bringing you in with more new and fresh traffic from the untouched areas in the world. Page rank is not important only when you know how to capture the fresh market’s attention to become your old customers and it leads more towards viral marketing which is even more important than search engine marketing.

In my opinion, viral marketing is more important than search engine marketing simply because it is a better way to be introduced by the more familiar friends of theirs and it leads to faster conversion of prospects to customers.

So how to get your own page rank?
I heard from a good advice from my friend from http://www.iamboredr.com to focus my blog on contents again and again. I have not really been aggressive like my good internet pals John Cow, Carl Ocab or Matt Jones in their marketing efforts to bring their blogs into the next level. I merely focus myself on my contents, and socializing myself to get to know more bloggers. And it takes time and patience to get everything matured. Of course, more page rank doesn’t mean you making money enough as your full income at all. Of course, I did some marketing at the initial stage when I am still starting out in my blog adventure. I have done some guest postings before… I have bought reviews from Cash Quests before.

Boasting too much about your page rank in your website?
I think Google is punishing people who are boasting too much about their page rank. One very obvious one is from a blogger I have reviewed, asking for people to write reviews about him to get free links from a PR5 website. Now, his website is PR2… http://www.everydayweekender.com/pagerank-linkback-batch-15/

I also start to see many blogs stop boasting about their page ranks… But page rank is still being used as a guideline for many other areas in the arena of business and personal. For example, if I wanted to do business with the person from this website and his page rank is zero, I would do some more further checks such as web archives, whois and even country-check and which Internet service provider he is on, before I proceed since the website is almost the only exposure I have from this person.

That reminds me of the $10,000 lucky draw scam I mentioned to you all previously. I think it’s really a scam since there’s no deposit of $10,000 and there has been unknown morning calls to my mobile which seems to be from that lady from China when I am too busy at work to answer her. To all of you especially from Singapore and Malaysia, please take note of this scam calls directly to your mobile!

Anyway, I am glad to have a better PR juice now… Though I had some hope it was going to be PR4, I think PR3 is quite a good judgment for my blog which is started since June 22nd. Cheers!

Congratatulations Charles for the PR3 that you just got… With PR dropping for many large blogs it was unclear if there was a change in algorithm but seems that everything’s the same.

ya congratulation to your new PR 3. you got to be feel good about it. IMO page rank is very important if you really understand it. but when there are so so many opinions on this issues people will get confused. so whoever believe it is important just trust your instinct and understanding. build fresh content continuously and we will see our PR increase quickly.

It seems that you have lost your PageRank, like me ! I wonder what the Hell Google is doing.

Well, we never know if it got to do with the algorithm, or if they are editing it manually… It has surely demoralized many of us here…
