It has become dawn to me that anybody who is doing sales (Be it a salesman, or a businessman) should have a website to do a minimum marketing for himself while he is out there doing his own sales. In my decision to look for a sales job, a company can excel much better when a salesman himself is able to bring the best of himself to give the maximum potential of the products and services. And one way of bringing the best of himself, is through a simple website of his own. How do I mean by that?

Sales Man
Don’t underestimate the power of doing a sales job. It can turn anybody with zero investment into a rich person instantly. That’s because the salesman has to bring in the sales to keep the company growing healthily. It comes with the character and thought of the person himself to convert that prospect into a customer. It may contain an inner-beauty of the salesman who has very convincing power. And when he faces a rejection, he can still “retaliate” with a better negotiation for a second chance of closing the deal.

Sales Copy
A sales copy simply converts any prospect into a customer if it has a very good click-through-rate (CTR). There are many variants of a sales copy which may not necessarily be in the form of a long scrolling page. It is basically a landing page with a good copywriting. It may not have a chance to negotiate for a second chance if the copywriting is unable to fulfill the prospect. However, there are many CRM tools out there to provide the website a better visiting experience with a personal touch.

Sales Man + Sales Copy
Let the powers combine! A salesman who is out there doing sales should have his own name card to introduce himself. And name card usually has his own email and possibly website. And when the person who has an interest in his company’s products and services, there is a likelihood for the person to visit his website for more information. That’s where the good mix of following up when the customer is ready!

On the other hand, the sales copy can also bring in sales for the salesman to deal with. It opens up a new horizon for the salesman when the salesman is not bounded by locations and time. Everything can “wait” in the email fashion of asking and replying. The salesman can also follow up closely.

Personal Branding Website
A page talking about yourself is almost as important as having a name card for your prospects. It is a virtual representation of yourself doing sales online while you are sleeping at night or busy with something else. It also opens up an international opportunity for your presence to bring in more sales.

Conclusion
This is probably more suitable for seasoned salesmen out there who are technologically savvy. Email communication is quite a common thing nowadays. We have to start working on our skills in sales and IT… I am glad to have taken IT course in 1990s and sales course in the 2000s… To me, it is the best combination to start your own business! :)
