As I review more and more websites online, I realize that there are a lot of different types of website reviews. Some reviews require me to look technically at the website because it’s the technical area which is the niche of the website. Some reviews are simply expressing the concept of the website to the audience to understand. In other words, different websites have their different needs of setting the right angle to review a website.

I had just finished one review which I found it quite difficult to write. Well, it is not because his website is very complicated. In actual fact, he has a very simple website to review about. It is so straight to the point that I have almost nothing to talk about except to go according to what he wanted to tell the visitors. This is one review which I found the owner’s website is quite effective in presenting his website.

Different websites have different angles of reviewing.
Of course, I can find flaws in the reviews if I want to look at it from a different angle. But that will be unfair to the website owner since that is not his focus anyway. As a reviewer myself, I have to look positively at what he wants to offer to his readers as much as possible so that I can relate his expressions better.

On the other hand, there are times when the owner is unable to express his point of view better. So, that is where I will start pointing out to show my review readers what this website can do to improve his website. Afterall, this is a website review, right?

I remember when I just started out writing reviews, I happened to review one website quite negatively. The concept of his website is to talk about online marketing. But because his website wasn’t well done technically, I have actually exposed a lot of his flaws to the readers to see and to understand. That was quite an extreme case for me to review whereby it is not easy for me to look for positive angle. In that case where the website owner is unable to express the angle for me to write positively, I really have no choice but to apologize and to review from my point of view.

Website Owners Expressing their Niche As Accurate As Possible
A reviewer like myself is just like any other visitor to your website. As for me, I will just review as I browse through your website. I will also write my thoughts as much as possible. Of course, I wouldn’t want to write anything bad to anybody so long as you are putting your website together in the way that you want me to see it as. And if you didn’t put your heart and soul into this website, it is pretty obvious and will show in the review itself.

To tell the truth or not?
Sometimes, I am really being left on the spot of whether to tell the truth about how bad this website is, or not to tell. I will usually keep myself as positive as the website owner as they want to portray that image to the visitors. And if that angle of positiveness is unable to reveal the goodness of the website, I may try to say the “bad things” nicely… :)

I guess if they are paying for your honest opinion, you certainly should give it. A website needs to be targeted nowadays. The Internet is about having a niche.
