I have been doing video reviews for a while. I have been fine-tuning myself about how to give a review in the video, writing about the review. I have been comparing my reviews with the experts out there, reading their reviews, finding out how they write their reviews. The very interesting thing I have found is when I found a blog which is really hard to review, and there is really no choice but to talk about bad review about it.

My Singaporean Accent
Having a Singaporean accent, I have noticed a minority of the people out there might not be able to understand my Singaporean accent. To work around with that, I am trying to read it out slowly and in proper English as much as I can. However, the majority can still understand it. They even bought a review from me at just $10! Thanks for the support!

My Reviewing Skills
I started my reviewing skills by giving free reviews, and hoping to see the areas to improve and to change. I tried various styles of reviewing. Eventually, I even have a standard procedure for myself! As I review longer, I start to accumulate a list of things which I have written down on paper, about the various points I am looking out for in a blog!

Learn the reviews from the best!
I even read as many reviews from other bloggers who have been doing text reviews for quite some time. I read from both the experts as well as those who just started out. I learn about their unique ways of reviewing a blog, and modify it and re-package it into a unique way of reviewing the bloggers. Thanks for the support of the bloggers… I eventually improved my reviewing skills along the way, and I am able to find my momentum now!

My Reviewing Experience
I can tell you that it is not easy to review a blog. I have to observe the blogger’s style for a while too. I have to get myself familiarized with his way of blogging as quickly as I can. And when I couldn’t understand his blog at all, I have to stop all my work, and just surf around his blog to understand who this blogger and what this blogger is doing.

The better bloggers will tend to let me understand his blog in just 1 minute! And these bloggers are usually the ones who are making money from their blogs. The rest of the bloggers will tend to make me surf around to understand their blogs for as long as the whole day! That’s because I have to read their contents if their blog isn’t guiding me enough.

Blogging Advice
As I review longer, I have a short advice to share with all of you.

  • We must understand that a new visitor to your blog don’t know exactly what you are doing actually. The new visitor will feel really unfamiliar with the “web surroundings”.
  • And if your blog is not guiding him enough, the only thing left to guide is your blog posts!
  • And because of the nature of a blog, the latest blog posts must be good enough to capture the attention of the visitors before they subscribe to you. And to understand about the latest posts, everyday there will be new visitors coming to your blog… Hence, your every blog post has to contain quality contents!
  • That’s only because your blog doesn’t have enough additional pages to guide the visitors. Many blogs are smart enough to introduce a page called “Top Posts” or “Popular Posts”. So new visitors will be able to see their popular posts to determine whether to stay loyal with this blog or not…
  • Other pages also play a role in helping the visitors too… Pages such as “About Me” and “Archives” are helpful too. Even your categories or tags are helpful to understand your overall blog contents.

In other words, content is king! And you have to position the content properly to your visitors to look for that king!

Behind the Scene of Video Reviewing!
Many of you didn’t know… Some of the video reviews took me as long as two days to complete… And the reviews have about 30 to 40 retakes! Which means I spent between about two hours to finish up a review properly! Some of the snapshots about my retakes

  1. I reviewed till I have nothing to talk about! I was loss of words while reviewing a blog…
  2. I reviewed while the page loaded too long! Taking too much of the video timing…
  3. I reviewed a certain portion for more than one time! That’s duplication…
  4. I reviewed the blog for over 10 minutes!  That’s so terrible… It was the best review!  But YouTube rejected my video!  What the fxxx!
  5. I reviewed the blog for too short!  There’s almost nothing to talk about… I have to source out to external websites to assist this blog review.

The best review is to talk about John Cow!  Smooth… Easy… Nothing hard… Good for him as an advertising avenue… Good for me as a reviewer…

Conclusion
If you guys really like my reviews, do give me more feedbacks on how to improve my reviews!  You can contact me to let me know about it.  Or if you don’t like my review, please do me a favor by giving me some feedbacks as well, ok? Please…

Ok, I hope you all really like my video reviews, and would support me more by having your blogs reviewed by me.  It will be the most wonderful thing for me to keep reviewing you all!  Whether your blog is a smooth case like John Cow, or a rough case, we’ll see about that! Ok?
