How Long Does It Take For Your New Blog To Attract Traffic?
Oct 29th, 2007 by Charles
At the very initial stage, blogging is really very lonely. My friend, Aaron, found that blogging on social networking sites are much better than having his own blog. That’s because every time he published his blog, he will get to see people coming in to see it because of the notification feature from the social networking sites to his network and beyond. But blogging your way in a protected area simply gets you nowhere if you wish to take this blog seriously.
First of all, when you blog in a social networking site, you don’t have the power to publish your own ads. You might still be able to push some of your affiliate links and having your own “space” blogging away. However, it seems not going to be long when you start to feel unjustified for not able to put advertisements banners and links on your blog.
But again, when you start writing your blog with your own personal branding, you must treat it as though it is your very own hobby. Something which you have to take care of just like taking in food no matter how busy you are. Writing a blog can take about the same time as taking your dinner outside. Or, it can be just a few minutes… Or, you could blog away using your mobile phone too. Whatever it is, you have to blog as though you have a lot of readers watching.
Next, don’t forget to let Google know about your blog! Or else, your blog will take long period of time before your site is being indexed or even to get some page rank. Updating Google is just about submitting your url to Google, or submitting your sitemap to Google or even just to tell Google about you! And remember to keep on writing your contents like nobody’s business… The more frequent posting you do, the more Google likes you!
Socializing around the blogosphere… If you don’t socialize, who on earth will know you? Your blog will be just like another article site if you don’t socialize around enough. And sometimes, article sites may not contain unique contents which sometimes make me suspicious of their source…. No doubt you will still attract new traffic more and more… But the good old traffic might not come back again…
If you just keep on writing and writing, you should be safe enough even though you don’t socialize around. You should get at least 1 page rank in the next update…
Well, it took 3 months before my blog got substantial amount of traffic, and the best way I’ve found was social media sites. Traffic was like instant!
Socializing with other bloggers is also an effective way to get mentioned in their blog.
Wow! Social media site is new to me! I just did a check and found out some stuff about it… This is a great way of working on your blog! Great idea! Thanks Carl!
Being hosted at wordpress.com, my blog started attracting pageviews in first three days (though 1-10 in nos.), then with inclusion in Google it started rising upto 587 in a single day.
