Look out For The Categories In Your Blog
Jul 22nd, 2007 by Charles
How categories help in your blog:
- It helps you to keep your focus in your blog.
- It helps your readers to understand more about your blog in less time.
- It helps you to maintain a more tidy content, and to realize how much your contents have evolved.
Mass categorization of your blog posts
- As I blog longer, I realize how important “Batch Categories” plugin is.
- I was doing some housekeeping with my blog just now to get ready to move into a new theme since this theme seems to have problem with displaying on Safari browsers. I notice I couldn’t have been able to categorize my blog posts massively if not for this plugin.
Your Categories are going to make who you are
- Have a look at your categories. They represent a summary of you. They represent your topics of interests.
- Take a look at the contents of each category you have. They represent how much you really know in them.
- Keep changing your categories to suit your style because the categories for the first time might not always be the same as time goes by.
- Check out which categories you have very little posts in them.
- Recategorize them into a new category where you have lots to talk about. Move all the other posts of that same topic into that new category too.
- For example, I have quite a few posts talking about blog when I put them in “Affiliate Website” category. I realize how wrong I am to put them in this category. So I created a new category called “Blogging”. My site is now evolving more and more. And it affects my headline “Internet Business Review” into something different because I feel it’s focusing towards articles about the different coming trends, technology, business and motivations.
Conclusion
Don’t be afraid to use different categories you might want. Just amend accordingly as your blog is evolving… That’s the important thing to do. What do you think?
