• Who is Charles?

I have been an Internet reviewer, reviewing websites since June 2007.

Social media has been a phenomenon since 2007. It brings in the true two-way communication between the websites and their visitors. That's what Web 2.0 is all about. I aim to review what the world has become, and to give you my opinions and choices.

  • Want to be reviewed?

Over at my blog, I review you at no cost. But I will not be obliged to write reviews about your website, nor will I be obliged to write reviews positively. It is purely from my own point of view. There will have no deadline for me to finish any reviews if I am going to take up.

Please prepare your product ready for me before contacting me. Thanks. :)

The Biggest Problem Every Blogger Faces

By Charles On July 20, 2007 Under Blogging

The problems faced by a blogger seem to be in this position according to Gaman’s post.

  1. Traffic is probably the biggest problem every website is facing.
  2. Next will be monetizing the site.
  3. Next is idea to write.
  4. Motivation is next..
  5. Then it’s about having “no time”.

I will only touch on the topic of Traffic as the biggest problem in this post.

Comparison of Generating Traffic in the past Vs today
I remember in the past before 2001, it is almost difficult to generate traffic for your site… It seems like having the top position in Yahoo is very important and yet not achievable at all. Now when Google comes in, big players have to fight with the small players for the placing of top search results! Everybody is now on par when it comes to searching for relevancy!

Generating Traffic from Alternate Sites
Moreover, with the introduction of Web 2.0, many social websites, blogs and forums start to link one another bringing the traffic flowing everywhere! Everybody simply loves to link! Either they link for money, or they link for that extra leverage of knowledge and time! It is now that it so much easier to generate traffic for your website than ever…

Generating Traffic from Internet Advertising
And if you can’t squeeze yourself inside Web 2.0, why not just attract traffic through advertising? Internet advertising is now more effective than TV advertising and it is so much faster and inexpensive!

Generating Traffic from Physical Advertising
You might print name cards of yourself with your own domain name there. People would love to go take a look at it after you had a good connection with them outside. You might also put effective advertising through radio, newspapers and TV, depending on your targeted audience where they are mostly in… The rich and wealthy families usually read business newspapers and hence you might want to place an ad in that newspaper for a better exposure.

Generating Traffic from Word-Of-Mouth
Let your friends know of your site! They would love to spread it out for you when you provided an assistance for them to start with… Email some good contents from your sites to your friends and let them know of your site for more, and encourage them to spread amongst their friends. Well, you definitely have a group of friends who like to forward interesting emails, right?

It’s all about marketing
Well, if you want to do business, you have to do marketing! Jay Abraham emphasizes so much about marketing that it can actually bring any business to the next level. If you want to make money for your site, you got to have that marketing plan in your mind or on paper…

Conclusion
Well, the biggest problem of traffic is only because these people aren’t that lucky enough to generate it, and they don’t have the skill to do marketing to generate them either… All we need is a very good idea that spreads the word… And it is going to be powerful! :)

You probably listed all the problems I am having right now. Starting off is really tough. Here is an idea, all new bloggers come together in a forum or message board community, and share ideas while trafficking each other’s sites…???

haha.. That’s quite an idea. But of course we have to bring in new visitors always. The ultimate aim of any website is to bring in new visitors while maintaining loyal visitors. Well, that might work though and I believe there’s such forum out there but it is going to be yet another new form of business model.
