While I was rambling about my problematic laptop, it actually brings in interesting traffic from Google in these few keywords:

  • flickering laptop lcd
  • laptop lcd flickering
  • lcd flickering
  • lcd is flickering
  • why isnt my laptop working?

I might as well talk something more about what happens to my laptop over here.

Over the past a year or two, my laptop has been experiencing flickering LCD on my laptop. My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 8600, bought in 2003 at the price of about SGD$3300… (converting to USD$2178 in 2007…. when it could be priced at USD$1941 in 2003!) You can see how much an American dollar has dropped over the last five years…

I like my laptop very much… It is giving me all the power to get myself in touch with the digital world while I was venturing into brick-n-mortar businesses in the past… Even right now for my online ventures, it is going to stay with me even more often to become a professional blogger.

I have been bringing my laptop almost everywhere I go! I brought it to China before… I brought it to Malaysia also… I brought it to meet clients to do presentations… I used it to close deals… I used it basically to keep myself abreast in my everyday sales…

Probably the time has come in end 2005 when my LCD suddenly flickers out of nowhere! It wasn’t showing any sign before it complains of “his sickness” to me… And I wonder why it only flickers sometimes… And when it stop flickering, it really has no sign of problem again! But when it flickers, it can keep on flickering while I can’t fix it at all in anyway…

I tried various methods to see if I can solve the problem:

  1. I tried to see if it’s to do with the refreshing rate problem…
  2. I tried to use shortcut keys to open applications, doing alt-tab to switch between applications in the hope of solving the flickering problem… Sometimes it works wonders!
  3. I also tried hitting the LCD! I am sorry for hitting “you”… It works sometimes as well!
  4. I tried shaking my laptop while it is on! Sometimes it works too!
  5. I tried to leave the laptop on 24 hours without touching it… Sometimes it worked…
  6. And lastly when all methods have failed, I just pray to God to help me… Well, it worked sometimes in the past, but it has eventually been solved permanently now! haha! Find out how…

For every internet marketer and blogger out there, it is important to have a laptop with you if you travel a lot… Or else, the alternatives would be to come back home regularly, or a visit to the nearest Internet cafe… It is so important to stay connected as it is the lifeline of our future… Don’t you think so? Oh I love my laptop! “Dell Laptop, can you hear this?”
