Well, I am probably the inventor of Website Video Review… I have not seen any blog doing a website video review yet like myself. It can feel a little nervous while I am doing this live video recording of myself speaking in a website demonstration. I do quite a number of NG (which means Not Good) cuts and have to re-do my recording again and again… The previous review with Jon Lee takes me almost 40 retakes before I finally think it is quite acceptable and published it. My girlfriend said that I am not so smooth in my speech, and so I told her that I am going to do many times to make sure I am self-transforming into a powerful website video reviewer!

Well, I used this $39.95 HyperCam2 software (My first video review of the software itself!) to do all my recordings. And I am going to publish yet another video up very soon.

Exposure in a Website Video Review
Doing a website video review for other people is a win-win situation in the Internet industry. Firstly, it provides a way to market yourself in the video-sharing websites and hence exposing yourself in the world of video blogging (my review about video blogging). It gives new visitors a chance to see what that website is about and even an introduction of the man behind that website. It is definitely a viral marketing here where your video will be seen embedded everywhere in websites. And also, it gives people a way of understanding who the speaker is with his introduction of Charles Lau dot Com (myself!).

LinkBack Video Review!
Recently, I start to offer reviews to websites with linkback campaigns (I think that was first invented by John Chow but he seemed to have stopped.) from the various blogs that I think is appropriate. Linkback campaign is a way where the bloggers will get links from us (sometimes with anchored text), and probably to review something about them in a paragraph of 50 words or so in our post. I thought it would be better if I do an additional Website Video Review as well! The video isn’t a review exactly… It is just an orientation of a reader trying to understand what the blogger has done for his site.

Blogger’s advantage of being orientated by another person
A blogger having to see a reader who is browsing his site live on the website trying to find out about him, will learn the following and more:

  1. So this is the way of how a reader - who is unrelated to him - is browsing his blog.
  2. So this is how a reader is thinking while browsing his blog.
  3. So this is how a reader is reading his blog contents too.
  4. And in additional, he might even understand whether his ads are “blinded” in front of his reader or not. This is probably the most important part of his website where he gets income.
  5. So this reader is enjoying his site…

How is a reader feeling and thinking while doing a presentation of other people’s blog?
This is definitely talking about myself who is trying to talk as much as I can about a website. When I was still not taping live yet, I could think of so much things to see from a website. But when the “camera” is on you, I realize I have to brush up on organizing my thoughts of which part to talk about first, and move on slowly. In my first website review, I was talking a little too loud at the beginning and my whole voice wasn’t that natural as I speak outside to my friends and business associates. This was the feedback my girlfriend was telling me. So, I am adopting a slow speaking approach in my next video reviewing (coming up in a moment).

To me, I like to talk something impromptu. And hence, this video review is giving me a good exercise of giving impromptu speech from one website after another. This is my approach in my next review:

  • Speak slowly.
  • Organize my thoughts according to his site structure.
  • Talk about the ads he has put there. It is to let the blogger know if he is facing “ad-blindness” to the readers.
  • Speak steadily and clear.
  • Getting my ideas across to the viewers once without having to repeat myself.

Conclusion
Well, I hope you enjoy this article here. I have a couple of things to put up pretty soon too… :)
