This is another paid video review, and it is from Alex Wong, the blogger of Online Marketing Singapore. He’s probably a Singaporean (same country as myself), and he has started his blog around the same time as me. He is focusing his blog towards Singapore market which you can see it obviously in the URL. And of course, you will see more traffic from Singapore. It’s quite a niche market for his blog to be in, as he fills up his keyword-targeted domain with lots of articles related to the domain.

This video review is probably one of the longest I have done. I have to speed up my speech in this blog so as to squeeze everything inside one video of 11 minutes!

Content Structure
The best thing I can see in his blog is with his contents. He has 99% very serious contents about online marketing in his blog. So, if you want to read articles related to online marketing, you can check out his blog. He writes serious contents in almost every post! I think it’s because the weight of his domain name explains why he is focusing his contents quite strictly… I felt like a student, reading his contents as he says “Why you must… Why you must not…”

A blog with so many quality postings! Is Alex Wong really so good as he is owning such a domain name with “online marketing singapore” keywords? Let’s not doubt about it, and understand that the weight he has to carry for such domain name…

Interestingly, I found one recent post which actually compiles the whole sales copy in it. This is my first time I am seeing such a posting talking about The Insider Secrets to Marketing Your Business.

Predictably Low RSS subscribers Because Of Strict Contents
There is a possibility that he has a very low number of RSS subscribers all along. That’s probably because his blog content is focused more towards search engines. People might just come upon his site via search engines, read the article and go. There is no particular word of action to ask the reader to subscribe the feed. And because there are so many articles about online marketing, people might not remember to come back to that particular article site if there’s no strong reason to.

Retaining the subscribers
This blog tends to have a different feel for frequent blog readers. Frequent blog readers are used to reading quality articles. That’s because they have been reading fresh new articles from the good blogs as the bloggers think of fresh new ideas from their brain and post them in every day. And to keep themselves up-to-date with the bloggers, they used feed readers to read all of them together. Hence when they detect duplicated contents, they are very likely to unsubscribe it anymore.

Opt-In Section Everywhere
This opt-in section reminds of me the long long sales copy I saw on those extremely expensive ebooks. While it is useful to be used in a squeeze page where all the information leads to an email subscription, having it placed as part of the blog is a little obscure. A better opt-in section might be a short and sweet version of it. Or, you might want to have a link to a squeeze page instead.

10 Suggestions For Improvement
Alex must have been really busy with his actual Internet businesses, while trying to work out his blog. I can sense that because his blog seems to have really good articles and yet because of the structure of the blog, I couldn’t concentrate myself reading it more. Some of the words tend to have an unexpected break into the next sentence.

  1. You might want to look into your Categories which every category seem to have only 1 post.
  2. You might want to write more personalized posts, as your every post is very strict.
  3. You might want to change your header image to look a little better…
  4. You might want to write one opt-in page which consolidates all your lengthy opt-in section. Or to write a shorter opt-in section…
  5. You might want to improve your “About Me” page as this is the most visited page for every blog.
  6. You might want to make that “Alexa Ranking Audio” page more interesting?
  7. You might want to make your “Quiz” page better?
  8. Your “Site Map” has got lots of problem in the linking that need to be resolved.
  9. You might want to write more about your “Top Five Marketing Software”.
  10. You might want to look into your posts for any coding error such as “11 Things You MUST Know Before Hiring a Copywriter! - Copywriting“. And some unexpected break to next-line for certain sentences.

Conclusion
In my opinion, a blogger’s world is totally different from an Internet Marketer’s world. A blogger consists of being an affiliate marketer, and he’s also a voice in the blog community. There are so many blog voices around the world, and for every thing that you do which is good or bad, will be revealed to all almost immediately. An Internet Marketer who focuses on working on his landing pages for affiliate marketing is a slightly solo world of his own where nobody will really criticize since it is probably not ranking well in the search engines. I don’t think any blogger will want to talk so much about any particular website if there’s no catch to it… While Internet Marketer just has to watch his steps in the forums…

I would like to thank Alex Wong for paying $10 to have his blog reviewed. I have a feeling that he is an Internet businessman who is not very IT savvy, or else he might have done an even better blogging business than myself. I can see his effort to work really hard in making his website to work properly.

No offense to Alex Wong, but after visiting blog, the blurred images posted on Oct 1st gave me a real headache. The blog structure looks weird too. 1 big header at the top and another header below.

    Just my 2 cents.

    Regards,
