Several years ago, I see a lot of collaboration between competitors. I was very amazed by it, and I told my boss about this phenomenon and he replied me that “that can only happen online”.
Nowadays, some competitors are seen cross selling one another’s products in the same physical location. For example, some restaurants are giving out their competitors’ discount coupons to their customers when they come again.
When we see competition only in terms of market share and price cutting, we are missing out on the potential growth when our competitors are unable to close their sales. Why can’t we recommend them to our competitors who may be able to close them?
When we see competition in terms of collaboration, we see joint ventures, sponsorships, partnerships, co-resellers and any other forms of collaborations that anybody else can think of.
Whenever there is a team work, there is always a bigger thing that we can achieve. And when there is only individualistic, the bigger perspective is blinded. Great things can still be achieved individually. It is just not at the fullest potential.
