Many people tend to follow rules very closely. Never did they know that it is actually making them work like robots.
Many of us may have heard that “rules are meant to be broken”. It is not exactly true but we have to understand that rules are created by human beings, hence rules are not exactly foolproof for anybody to follow exactly. Even if it has been rigorously tested for different situations, it may just fail in a particular situation one day.
Whenever I hear people saying that they are just following the rules, it is getting on my nerves because they know that those rules don’t work and yet they have used rules as an excuse. They are even worse than robots because they know what’s going on while robots are genuinely trying to follow a set of instructions set by human beings.
Whenever I meet such people, I will either try to use the same rules to create a win-win situation (at least more advantageous), or to look for the person who created the rules so that the follower can follow new rules.
Rules are meant to be good; they try to standardise things so that we can have a good expectation of things. However, if the person follows the rules blindly, I can only say that he will just face more barriers in front of him when the rules don’t work.
When I say don’t just follow the rules, I don’t mean to do something wrong to your own values. So long as things are for the good of everybody, rules are just a guide to a certain extend but our own initiatives are even more important than rules. We are human beings, not having any artificial intelligence but real human thoughts and feelings..
